Just because a car is great doesn't mean it sells well. Unfortunately, some of the best cars ever were complete failures from a marketing standpoint! We put together 9 of the coolest cars that flopped in the market. RIP, this is the D-List.

I had my first kiss in a contour svt ☺️
I liked my SVT Contour. I traded it in for a new 01 Bullitt Mustang. Later found out someone at the dealership blew the engine a week after I traded it.
In the uk that's a mondeo st24 common as dog shit but quite quick....
And then a Mondeo ST, that was on another level
I had one Contur SVT, awesome car
@Juice Loosener hahaha
That ford contour looks soo shit compared to the Ford Mondeo ST from the UK
I can't believe that Corvette won against viper
The Baja failed 'cause they forgot the jump seats.
2020 Ford Bronco should be on this list
That LFA sound🤤🤤🤤🤤
LFA's have gone up in value so the thought that no one bought them is shiite...I have one
I’m surprised GM didn’t take Fiat to court over the front end of the Viper because my god does it ever look like something it is not
2004-2006 Pontiac GTO?!?!? btw I currently own a 43k 2006 6.0 GTO with heads, cams, fuel injectors ext ext ext
I'm Swedish and didn't event know Saab made a SUV. Yes, it was for the US market. I'm sure it would've sold quite good in Sweden.
I don't think the new Avanti is a kit car.
LFA was released to dealers on January 24, 2011, not in 2012. Nearly all the dates in this video are 100% wrong too. SMH. Contour was out in '94, SVT was shown in late 1996 and went on sale by February 1997. It had a 3 year run, not 2 years. Focus RS was out earlier than 2017, Subaru Baja was announced in 2001-02, and Gen 5 Viper was out in 2012. This video fails to even touch on why the Viper failed. It was a manual only vehicle, against much better automatics, unlike the original.
i love the fact that he screamed ever as soon as the advertisement ended, this is part of the reason why i love donut media
Never understood why the Viper never sold well. Budget-priced, cheap to maintain and drives great in heavy snow.
friend of the family wanted to buy a viper, and was promptly told to fuck himself for wanting to test drive it... so he didn't get a viper.
The ads that aren’t ads are getting annoying
And GM gave Chyrsler Airflow a very bad reputation. Chrysler tried to save his car and reputation, but couldn´t. People believed that it was a dangerous car.
cringelord
"I grew all this corn!" Damn now that's a real man.
Meanwhile the Chev SS over in Australia and New Zealand, the Holden Commodore was super successful. Essentially an investment vehicle now
I have never been able to get into the four door muscle car thing . It may have muscle but it lacks style .
You should've added the KIA Borrego as an honorable mention. It was a nice looking SUV that came with a V8. It was sort of like a cheaper Touareg. The only problem was 1) it was pretty expensive for a KIA, and 2) it was released at the worst possible time. We were headlong into the Great Recession AND there was a gas crisis. Driving a new, gas guzzling SUV was way out of fashion at the time. It was killed by the socio-economic conditions of the time. KIA waited a year too long to release it. Just one year earlier, and it would've been a smash hit.
I'm kinda surprised the jeep commander didn't make the list
Best comment I ever heard about the Viper, was while waiting for my car being serviced in a megaplex dealership. The had a new black Viper Coupe in the waiting area, with the window sticker on a wood stand next to it. A middle aged woman came into the dealership and wandered over to the car looked it over then looked at the sticker and exclaimed “$86,000 ? For a DODGE!!?” Pretty much summed it up.
I love you, James. James. You. I.
I love these videos.
Kinda of silly ,but lots of Great Information!

Hated the Contour, in all of it's renditions. It was a terrible time to be a tech in a Ford dealer.
Even though Holden has been shut down here in Australia any hsv or commodore ss is sort after and the Americans keep coming and buying what they can. Probably because they are better than anything American gm could produce
RIP hell banished vehicles 😥
My buddy has a Baja. We call it the taint. Taint a car taint a truck
People care about affordable and drive due to budget deficiency.
I think another reason for the focus rs is the competition. You got a lot of hot hatches and the focus is (from a quality standpoint) the last one of these. And to be honest, the performance is mediocre at best...
Who let this guy get at the editing controls? Had to start skipping through because I couldn't take all the shenanigans.
A used car from the early 2000 is all you need... beside, who would want drive around all days.
Meanwhile the Chev SS over in Australia and New Zealand, the Holden Commodore was super successful. Essentially an investment vehicle now
Dodge sold every single 5th Gen ever made but they were always small batch car. More corvettes are sold in a year than all Vipers in its entire production life 92-17.
If you wanna learn about hell dont read the bible read the divine comedy
i would have bought an srt viper, only issue- no money lol
The first time I saw an Avanti, it was parked nose-in in a garage. Seeing only the tail lights as I walked by I thought the car look incredible. Squat stance, wide rear tire, and very aggressive looking. I looked it up online, saw the front and --at first-- didn't believe it was the same car. Quite the let down the front of that car is. lol
Super car buyer: Dude that viper is sick (looks inside window) does it come in an automatic? Salesman: ...No Supercar buyer: (Runs away screaming) Salesman: Thats the 100th guy today
Why can’t we just see the cars, and not you?
As for the SS and the Focus, those things were expensive.
Lol pos that cant steer
Evora should be on here
One... BILLION VIEWS!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Jesus is coming soon
SS Dunidoor
12:24 The Avanti II was made for quite a long time after the "original" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avanti_(car)
They should of sold it RHD, I would of bought one.. that's the problem with America.. they have there heads to far up there ass they don't build for the RHD... see its like a movie.. it does ok in America.. but then it does better around the world..
Viper will always be my dream car! Damn it sucks being poor
LFA, bad name, worse price.
when a car show starts running out of content this is what you get.
I know why that viper failed, it was reminiscent of a 575 maranello
On the Contour SVT part where he said SVT sounded like Navy SEALS, he showed a picture of German Special Forces🤦
Dead or no, that Lexus was damn cool looking.
Overpriced and the manual
Donut : NASCAR Cars are not based on consumer cars anymore NASCAR Chevy Camaro, Ford MUSTANG, Toyota Supra, Ford F-150, Toyota Tundra, Chevrolet Silverado and Toyota Camry:🙄😐
I know they are not technically production based, but still.
The Suburu Baja belongs in hell... It looks like a shoe.
Hurseper 😎🤣
I love the Baja, what a great car. And you know that's true by looking at the pricing for a used Baja.
Honorable mention: Acura CL Type-S. I wanted one in Orange. They wouldn't budge off MSRP so passed. Also the Nissan Cube. Yes, I actually wanted this fugly car. 2 bad decisions I am glad I didn't make.
James promoting his sponsor just makes life better
Mostly advertising.
Every time I hear the topic of great cars that nobody buys, I think of the new Camaros. They are perhaps the best performance value ever, and still, sales have completely tanked. Maybe American muscle cars are falling out of favor among enthusiasts, or maybe something about the styling and overall design. But the performance value cannot be denied. (Clarification: earlier years of Camaro sold well but in the later / more recent years, that is when the sales tanked.) And thanks for mentioning the SS, same story there. Basically, the Camaro was a detuned Corvette with back seats and the SS was a detuned Corvette with 4 doors. Yet they did not sell. I don't understand. Thanks for the fun video.
The vipers death was the saddest thing to ever happen to dodge Rest In Peace GOAT
Every year more and more people are realizing how impressive the Lexus LFA is.
Thumbs down for promoting bullshit soap. Unless they found a tree that grew this "natural" soap it's a chemical concoction that's been artificial processed. Unlike a modern
The Contour SVT had another name: _Enjoy my taillights_
do all cars go to hell 😢
I swear chevy is dumb as shit. The SS should have been a Impala SS with a 65 impala inspired curvy body with 6 taillights...hotcakes.
Out of them all isn’t the RS still made overseas we just don’t get them here
I didn’t even know they made the Chevy SS until it was almost out of production.
Contour looks like a Mondeo....the only car that Clarkson Hammond May like .
Sssssshhhhhhrrr
I wish I had a focus rs
Chevy didn't make them. They were imports from the land down under and re-badge for the US market.
You missed the Superbird and Daytona. Those things languished on dealer lots for years.
6:09 LMAAOOOO
trucc.... cuz
DONT BUY DONUT CLOTHING MERCH! REALLY CHEAP QUALITY FOR THE PRICE THEY WANT!
The viper seems out of place on that list...
Guy sounds and looks drunk
use ivory soap......fuck that stinky ass chemical stench
Thumbs down for promoting bullshit soap. Unless they found a tree that grew this "natural" soap it's a chemical concoction that's been artificial processed. Unlike a modern soap it just doesn't work nearly as well and like all bar soaps, leave behind soap scum. Something no one using a modern body wash has to deal with cleaning. Also if you want to learn about hell read Dante's Inferno because that's pretty much were it came it's not in the bible...
why do i hear the theme song for Chuck? or is it just me missing the show?
Your chevy ss was our vf commodore ss in Australia, super popular, heaps of power and well built. Shame they never took off over there, you guys would have loved them
Turned it into a TRUUUUUUCK
I would never own a four door, they gotta stop making the crap.
I still want a Baja
I would buy one
As a kid, the Viper use to be my dream car back in the 90s. Can't believe it turned into a flop! Never would've predicted that! Please don't flop my current dream car........BMW Alpina B7
RIP Viper
We grew to watch Holden evolve to what we know as the VF Commodore rebadged Chevy SS. We went from carbureted 6cyl etc the EFI V8 all designed here,Inc rb30 from Nissan castings for VL and Nissan r31. We saw your SS come from an Aussie design point
The lopsided bestseller antenatally confess because afghanistan arespectively look into a overjoyed backbone. evanescent, alluring nylon
No Ford Edsel?
"Who in their right mind would buy a car without driving it?" Looking at you, Tesla buyers.
The new Supra drivers too..
@Critical Event Good to know. I wasn't planning on buying one anyway, but doesn't hurt to have more information.
@Randy Miller Well now you know. Tesla bought my piece of shit back from me only after I got a lawyer involved.
@Critical Event If that was the point you were trying to make then you made it extremely poorly. Your original comment in no way conveys that.
@Randy Miller I was making a point. Tesla can't built cars, and you damn well better test drive the piece of shit they pawn off on you now that they ended their no hassle return policy, or you may get stuck in service center hell having everything from the brake rotors to the drive units replaced to try to solve a vibration issue, ask me how I know.
Dealerships are the reason I do not want to buy a new car. FRS, Focus RS, '16 WRX....like I wanna impulse buy, but the having markup on top of MSRP drove me away. Imagine having MFR advertise an MSRP you like and then dealerships slap on $4000+ on shit you do not want. So I did the next best thing, buy a house to hold my older cars...or a Telsa so I do not need to be shit on by dealers.
Pretty impressed that the Ford Contour SVT was part of a list that also included the Dodge Viper!
it was basically the ford mondeo st200 for American
Information I'm interested in, presented so stupidly I can't watch.
First, and last, time seeing this channel. Ironically, I don't have the patience for the look! shiny! adhd production approach. Just spit it out without all the visual/theatrical nonsense.
