  • I think you vastly underestimate how much people want a King. A good benevolent wise powerful King that will protect, provide, teach and care for them. And who better than Walt Disney? I personally know several guys and girls that would live in Disney's company town without hesitation. Because they want to be lied to, they want to pretend bad things don't happen, they want to pretend everyone is good with good intentions, they want a Utopia, a heaven on Earth, and who can blame them? And who can blame Walt for trying to make that happen? It's the same deep desire at the heart of Communism: Utopia. No one has more than the other, greed, hate and fear do not exist because everything is fair and everyone is equal. Contrasted against the magic of Disneyworld today that works because of capitalism. But neither of these will bring about Utopia. Proven through logic and history. Humans will always be evil because we are only human. Forever born with the desire of another better world.

  • Alot of people also don't know walt Disney was a huge nazi sympathizer who worked with nazi's, hated the Jewish people, worked with elron Hubbard, Jack Parsons, and Warner van braun to create nasa. That is the creator of scientology, a known satanist some would say a influence into today satanism or lucifarinism, and a nazi who eas brought over during operation paperclip. This is alot like what is happening today so many uneducated on the subject have been convinced socialism or communism is a good idea when it strips the money and power from the people and gives it to corporations and governments, just like Disney world hiding its freedom stripping problems behind smiling characters and flashing lights and gets you to spend your money on their dream. Disney made the movie mulan in the part of communist China where they have concentration camps acting out genocide on the muslims. We vote with our money not our ballet, the more money goes to a corporation like Disney the more powerful it gets and spreads its false happiness while throwing out all the "unwanted" poor people. Disney actually publicly thanked China for letting them film mulan where the concentration camps are. Instead of reacting to things like this the media focuses on getting the races, genders, and sexes to fight each other and cancel pointless things like dr suess. But what do I know 🤷‍♂️ At least we have Biden to save us🤦‍♂️

First mention in the comic "Mister X" in which something went wrong, and instead of creating a city wide stimulation of positive emotions, created Gotham City's Crime Alley instead. • I've heard of people who'll go there to visit even though they don't have enough money for gas to get home afterwards, but the one time I went there, people actually tried to kick me out of the park because I got too tired and didn't look happy enough(you know, because nobody else's feet hurt and nobody else was hungry after getting separated from parents and unable to afford $7 pretzels because parents held the purse). Repeat guests get so self-centred about their own "pure" happiness that they'll gladly act as not-so-secret police.

  • That's not socialism that's unfettered capitalism/fascism. Family values, rewriting history to make it appear the corporations are the good guys, that sounds like a combination of the false right left paradigm of our corrupt political system. Two right wing ideologies pretending to oppose each other to manufacture public perception of reality itself. It seems most people don't really understand the true definitions of the words they are using to describe these systems. It's a perception deception.....especially in a society as corrupt as the United states .

  • For the uninitiated, what happened was, Walt and others were so horrified about the atrocities of WW2, that he fucked up completely, forgot the overriding principles he was knighted under and made his company the beginning of corporate totalitarianism. Of course they merged with the CCP. Poor, Walt, he was before my time, he was one of the first of the modern order and he would probably hate himself if he lived to see this.

It's just become loud and exaggerated in all ways. No quiet spots any more, just action. And overpriced, silly stuff at every corner. I guess they make a s***load of money. I feel like a part of my childhood is gone.

  • Disney is like a religion (or a cult, if you're willing to go that far), or something along those lines. the thing that it offers seems sublime, while hiding things about itself you may not realize, and denouncing anything that doesn't belong to its system. sure, its fun, but so is eating from popular restaurants, or playing a particular video game, or spending time with someone you really care about, the difference is how much control it holds over us, and how our views of it are often scewed.

  • It seems kinda medieval... Like in Europe between XIII and XIX century there were some very wealthy families, that were doing exactly the same things - building their own villages to be seen so good, while in reality all they did was exploiting. And during the industrial revolution the same went with wealthy capital-owners. Here in Poland we have a lot of examples of that kind of stuff - e.g. the city Zamość that's been built in XV century by prince Zamoyski and Nikiszowiec (now part of Katowice) designed by architect brothers Zillmans and owned by Giesche Erben, the owner of a coal mine. I think it's such a red flag when things like this start to happen. When the wealthiest 1% can do stuff like that while all the rest have to work their asses just to eat, things will start to collapse soon. Are people blind or something not to see that?

  • I once lived for a while in a Disney Town in Europe. It is called Serris, and it's a few kilometers off Eurodisney/Disneyland Paris. I called it "Mousechwitz", because it had a subtle eerie feeling of being a concentration camp for employees. There were other 4 Mousechwitzes as well, all conveniently isolated from one another. Older employees and even older managers were telling us, new employees, how even a couple of years before we came in, at the picnic tables outside our dorms, designated managers would sit down with us every single time to control our conversations: immediate censorship of the slightest criticism towards Disney and, much worse, the only conversations allowed not only at those picnic tables but indeed in every single public space HAD TO BE about how great Disney was and what a great opportunity we employees had at being allowed the once-in-a-lifetime luckly opprtunity of toiling away for our slave masters. Our private clothing was also strictly regulated: wearing a clothes item with a rival brand cartoon character would immediately bring you threats of immediate termination of your work contract. There were barely any shops in or around Mousechwitz (a very expensive bakery, a very expensive soulless bar, and a very expensive minimarket, all three of them would close at 5 pm). And there was no other transportation except the buses that took you to Eurodisney; so 95% of the time 95% of the employees would go to the Disney Village to socialize and spend our little money at Disney bars and Disney eateries & restaurants (even with our 1O% discount it was still very expensive). For the rebels from us who wanted to do our weekly shopping at a normal store, we had to literally take a train to another city, Torcy, where all the Disney employees were prayed upon by the local thug bands, right at the train station and all the way to the shopping mall where the supermarket was, so we had to organize to go in groups of 6 but despite that still got tauntedd, threatened and occassionally robbed and beaten by those thug bands. At the park itself as well as at the hotels or the Disney village, employees could be fined if not smiling enough 100% of our time. I remember a day, as I was waiting a row of tables at one of the restaurants of the Sequoia Lodge Hotel, where my manager gave me a Pluto certificate for outstanding work the previous month at the beginning of my shift (this came with voucher of about USD100 that could only be spend at... you guessed it, Disney stores), and at the end of my shift he deducted USD150 from my pay b/c while I was clearing away a table and thus having to go the dishwashing area (off limits to guests, as it should be) a guy who was sitting alone at one of the tables I waited at took the opportunity to sneak away without paying his bill - we had controls at the exit to make sure this didn't happen but the guy went away unnoticed. How the hell was I supposed to watch somebody trying to sneak away while I am in another area of the restaurant??

Funny how everything they did that was less Disney were the only things I liked: Dragon Slayer, Tron, etc... Disney characters used to get on my nerves (and still do) like Mickey, Goofy--they weren't a patch on the likes of Foghorn Leghorn or Daffy.

  • Never forget the principles of self-governance and freedom found in the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. Tyranny is not less tyrannical if it is done by a corporation rather than a government. People don't mind going to a company town where freedom does not exist but they are having fun, as long as they can leave after a week or so. But living without that freedom would be hell. It seems it approximates hell for those how have to be there long-term as well: Employees.

  • Wait the theme park isn't real?!?! [mind explodes] Seriously, is this news to anyone over the age of 6? And why is it wrong for Disney to buy a bunch of swampland no one wanted to build something most people would pay money to see? Oh no, the parks are clean, safe, efficient, well-engineered and they're trying to sell things, oh the humanity! "Can you imagine San Francisco doing that?" No, San Francisco can't even figure out how to prevent people taking dumps on their sidewalks. Even if Disney stuck with the original idea for EPCOT, the point was to test urban planning concepts and technologies that could, if successful, be employed in actual cities. If "Experimental Prototype" wasn't enough of a give away for you. EPCOT was meant to be more of a permanent World's Fair then a company town. Are you temporarily trading your freedom for clean streets and wholesome entertainment. Sure, you can't let your freek-flag fly and free climb Cindrella's Castle whenever you want to. But you can leave at anytime you want or choose not to go at all. Options not available to citizens of fascist countries.
