Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to go travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling, and we didn’t want to stop after just one year! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries and then all 7 continents (check out our documentary here: usworlds.info/slow/video/e6p6rWnNf2irm5k), we had no plans to slow down, until 2020 decided to force us to ;) which is when we bought a converted Sprinter van to start exploring our own country for the first time. It was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎
Oh 🤦🏼♀️ & about your pee situation lol You’re usually in random places why not just dump it outside?! I mean animals pee outside all the time lol
Oh I see you’ve never been to Connecticut either! There’s lots of nice museums there!
You guys should come to my home city Long Beach CA. We have the Queen Mary, The aquarium of the Pacific, and the beach to warm up from the cold weather. We have down town where there are a lot more to see.
Well for OKlahoma when I went as a kid I loved going to Toby Keith’s bar and grill! We passed his house too! And we went to some rodeos! 🐂🐎
Great bed however what about a good mattresses cover?
When you visit mass you should go to purgatory chasm, or Salem, or old Sturbridge village, or visit Martha’s Vineyard. Those are all pretty fun and unique places there 😉😅😊
There is a FANTASTIC pie shop in a small town in Texas, it's called Oxbow Bakery located in Palestine, TX. There is so much charm here in our small town! Please come visit a small piece of heaven in our lovely small town.
You could spend the next 6 months in Utah and not even scrape surface of radness!
Kara and Nate, you are my favorite travel vloggers and thanks for visiting my beautiful country Philippine right before the pandemic hits. Just to let you know, you are very popular in my country.
When you get to Nebraska I highly recommend the Henry Doorly Zoo, and yes you can probably spend the night. Rated best Zoo in America. Another alternative would be the Homestead National Historic Park in Beatrice, NE.
If you want to avoid the snow. Wait till May/ June to visit Minnesota. 🙈
Me wondering how they will drive to Hawaii haha
Can't wait for you to visit my home state of Connecticut! Make sure to take a trip through the "Quiet Corner" (where I'm from). So many beautiful back roads, lots of history, and some amazing food!
As a Vermonter, please hit me up for where to go! I highly recommend hitting up Greensboro, VT where Hill's Farmstead Brewery is, and Jasper Hill Farm Cheese!
Add alaska to your list🤔👍👍
Michigan, spend a night on Mackinac Island and visit ship locks at Sault Ste Marie. Wisconsin, tailgate at Lambeau field in Green Bay or visit The House on the Rock and Taliesin in Spring Green Minnesota, go canoeing in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. (Lots of canoe outfitters in area) North Dakota, camp at Cross Ranch State Park near Washburn and visit Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.
For South carolina I would recommend historic Charleston. North carolina, Asheville so you can see the biltmore estate.
I missed y’all and the damn cute van!
When you hit New Mexico visit Albuquerque. Take the Tram and visit the smaller towns near it. See the unique houses down town.
I started crying watching this because I realized how much I just miss them traveling the world and I miss life before the pandemic.
Delaware
Btw Vanuatu was in December 2019 and I'm pretty sure you guys said December 2020
When you go to Virginia you may want to visit Westmoreland County. It is small but has so many small neat things like George Washington's Birth homes, Monroe's birth home and Westmoreland State Park where you can find million old Shark teeth. It is close to Washington DC as well.
Wow. At home drip coffee. Also 12:55, that song came out 22 years ago and I don't think I've heard it for over a decade. Nice. Also, why do y'all not have as thick of accents as your family? You got the General American thing happening. Is that intentional?
If you dump your toilet behind some rocks in the badlands of Nevada, the scorpions aren’t gonna complain...
I would love to give you some ideas for Iowa!! I am an Iowan native and I would love to give you guys the best places to go and eat! That Place Steakhouse - Conrad, IA
Surely you didn't see ALL of Texas?
Boo come back to Michigan!
PLEASE GO TO EUREKA SPRINGS ARKANSAS AND THANK ME LATERRRRRRR PLEASE SEE THIS OH MY GOD 😭
Can’t wait to see the rest of your travels!!!!
Nate can sell it.
Pee is sterile unless you have a UTI. Actually promotes good compost development.
Sorry if this duplicates later, but for some reason my earlier comment isn't showing. Check out the Walter Inglis Anderson museum in Ocean Springs MS. Charter a boat out to Horn Island where he would row to and strap himself to a tree during hurricanes. Like many brilliant artists, he wasn't entirely sane! On my trip out, we went out on a shrimp boat, docked on the north side and hiked across to the beautiful beach on the Gulf side. We cooked our catch that night and it was the best shrimp ever. Or eat at one of the excellent Vietnamese restaurants in the area; there's a sizeable Vietnamese shrimping community on the MS Coast.
Your gonna be able to do more in red states vs blue.
oh my goodness i need to know when you go to Maryland. i want to say hi socially distanced
So sad that I can't help you to get a unique experience in any State as im not from the USA. Besosss from Spain!!!!!
This is so cool!! Okay! I am in Fredericksburg, Virginia and it is so so pretty here. It has tons of Revolutionary and Civil War history! I will even host you in my driveway! You can head on over to the oldest mountain range, the Shenandoah and Blue Ridge mountain! Congratulations on making the road your home!
So you have everyday problems that are non-issues in the rest of the northern world?
Keep the intro!!!!! I love it!
Come back to Colorado!! Let me know if you need recommendations for Wisconsin!
When you come to Ohio come to Cleveland or like Avon, Avon Lake that area because it’s where I am!!!!!!
Getting rid of the propane stove should be top of list, considering the hassle you have had with it.
Pfff.. One commercial after the other..
Omg I cannot wait to start watching your adventure
„Thank you for washing these by the way“ Lovely side note about the sheets 🥰
Yay! Sounds like an awesome plan! For Iowa, here's some suggestions: Check out the Field of Dreams movie site in Dyersville. Maquoketa Caves State Park in eastern IA is really neat! If you're in central IA, I've heard Ledges State Park is interesting as well. Crystal Lake Cave near Dubuque has a really cool cave tour. I haven't been, but the world's largest man-made grotto, The Grotto of the Redemption, is in Iowa. There's the High Trestle Trail bridge in central IA. It lights up at night and it's really cool! Great views and a fun place to take pictures. If you're here in late summer, The National Balloon Classic boasts over 100 hot air balloons. Something I've been wanting to do is ride a train at the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad. The routes offered look really pretty. I'd recommend the Tulip Festival in Pella, IA in May, but I'd imagine Covid's going to put a damper on things. As for food, I'm not very adventurous myself, but I do recommend getting the Denver style pizza at Great Plains Pizza in Ames, IA. It's a thick wheat crust that you drizzle honey on. Very good! If you are a fan of burritos, the local chain is Pancheros. The burritos are HUGE, waaaayyyy better than Chipotle, and you have to get the queso! A couple of the most talked about places (I haven't been to either, because again, I'm boring 😂) are Fong's Pizza and Zombie Burger. Fong's is Asian inspired pizza, and their best seller is crab rangoon pizza. Zombie Burger is just a very over-the-top fun burger place. I also have to recommend, if you are here during late July-ish, just take a drive out in the country. That's when the crops are at their peaks, and one of my favorite sites in the world is seeing miles and miles of deep green fields flowing in the wind. 😄
Hey there! Visit the town Madison when you’re come to Indiana! It is a super cute town and you can hike along the river to the bottom of clifty falls - one of my fav hikes.
Can you go to Kuwait 🥺pls
Visit lock in, stay the night haunted places.
So excited to see where y’all visit in Alabama! I’ve grown up all over Alabama including Birmingham, Mobile, and Huntsville! Huntsville is by far my favorite place here in Bama!
so basically you visited all the good states, didn't film why, and are now going to the left overs for content. I could visit all 50 fairly well in 6 months.
hahaha i live in minnesota so naturally it’s really cold but when it’s 28 degrees in the winter think wow it’s warm and wear just a jacket but how he has a whole snow suit im crying hahaha
Come to Cape Cod when you come to Massachusetts!! (Go to the lower cape you won’t regret it even tho it’s a little farther away)
Im from Connecticut. Have ya been to Connecticut? Have ya been to Puerto Rico? Looking foward a video in Puerto Rico. The food and people are amazing. You'll love it.💕
Keep making videos. Love you guys! You rock🤙
The van looks so cozy. I would love to be in that van while its snowing with a hot chocolate.
Go to Fargo, North Dakota please it is my home town and near and dear to my heart there are museums architecture shopping Coffee (Moxie Jova) is a good place lol I’m a coffee freak too😄
have you ever been to Canada specifically Manitoba
WOW Bullshit i cant even go to school and in America people are allowed to get in all States thats so much bullshit
3. Poor internet. GET STARLINK when it becomes available.
If you head through New York and take one of the Ferries to or from Connecticut you have a place to park on the North Fork of Long Island. I'm sure you've been to New York but a great spot to visit is Fire Island ...and a cool visit in various states could be the lighthouses
Where did you get your mattress topper from? I love that it "folds up"
Michigan: Mackinac Island, St. Ignance, Traverse City. Or travel here during the fall colors or summer time and go to every waterfall
Conway Scenic Railroad in New Hampshire
Hi from Wisconsin. I would suggest Door County in general. Lots of wineries and sites to see. Make a stop in Sister Bay, WI and see the rooftop goats at Al Johnson's. Or you can take your van on the ferry and go to Washington Island. Lots to do there with lavender farms, sandless beaches, UTV adventures etc...
Heyooo this means a Vermont trip is happening right?
Whose answered when Nate asked ‘hey Siri’ 🤔
The Institute of Native American Studies in Washington CT has an indoor and outdoor museum
the windy city
You should check out Itasca State Park when you are in Minnesota. It's the beginning of the mighty Mississippi
Lowcountry in SC. Charleston area. Look up videos regarding geechie Gullah. Lots of history
Can you guys visit Lithuania? Theres many states and u can choose them by yourself if u want to! There is Kaunas , Vilnius , Klapėda and more. The best are Kaunas or Vilnius.
You should tour a Airstream Like the new ones they are soo cool
You guys truly know how to survive and adapt.....ur business ethic is perflect!!!
WHEN IT GETS WARMER IN MARYLAND YOU SHOULD GO CRABBING
So amazing... I feel like I'm stuck in my job and I want to quit so badly but now we can't travel anyway so I know that the sensible thing to do is wait a bit longer, keep the job until the pandemic settles, and only quit when we can travel again. Watching your videos is making me so impatient to quit asap and get going. I hope in the upcoming 1-2 years we will start a similar journey :) Living in a van in New Zealand or Australia is the absolute dream. p.s. new small channel here doing travel related couple vlogs :)
You’ve already been to Texas, but XIT celebration in Dalhart, Tx. Is the best!!! There is a watermelon day, a corn day and a real Texas BBQ day!!! A parade sends everyone off with the largest amateur rodeo on the last day... I live in the OC, Ca. Now but miss my Dalhart, Texas... Go there and experience!!! I had horses and mud puddles growing up... 😂😘😘
Watching your helper walk away LOL
Jesus loves you
How r u going to get to Hawaii? That little girl is adorable!
Heyooo this means a Vermont trip is happening right?
Better save Montana for late summer
You guys are forgetting that there's only 48 states on continental United States. How are you going to be able to do in Alaska and Hawaii. when Canada won't let you go through to get to Alaska. And it to go to Hawaii you can go to San Diego and get your van put on a barge going to Hawaii. Make sure you do the research many people will tell you that it's illegal to have an RV in Hawaii. When in fact it's not illegal to have an RV in Hawaii, you just can not Register a RV in Hawaii. But that's okay you get a permit at the port. The blue sticker you put on your rear bumper it works like Hawaiian registration.
HILARIOUS!!!! I WAS EXPECTING EVEN JUST A MINOR RENOVATION ONLY TO FIND OUT, IT'S A MATTRESS 🤣
Wisconsin girl here - I agree with others who said the Lake Michigan loop for a scenic drive. If you haven't been to one of the great lakes, I think you'll be surprised at how much like an ocean it feels. However, the great lakes loop would likely have you bypass Door County and the scenic beauty of Door County is dear to me. If you are willing to detour up the "thumb" of Wisconsin, I recommend going to Washington Island and Rock Island and hitting up the wineries on the way up. May is lovely when the cherries are blossoming. OR, more in the heart of Wisconsin, visit a couple Frank Lloyd Wright sites, Taliesen, and the House on the Rock. I always thought the House on the Rock was cheesy, but it makes appearances in lots of novels and shows because it's just weird.
In New Hampshire the Kancamagus Highway is a gorgeous drive, and Franconia Falls is a great hike to a natural water slide! Afterwards, don’t miss drinks outside at the Woodstock Inn at the Dam Bar (decorated with downed beaver trees!). Mount Washington is fun to drive up the auto road or take the Cog Railway to the top. Sometimes they schedule sunrise drives up the auto road for an amazing sunrise view! Portsmouth on the Seacoast has great restaurants, outdoor theater by the water in the summer at Prescott Park, and ice skating in the winter at historic Strawbery Banke. We’re a tiny state, but we have a lot of beautiful spots to enjoy! Looking forward to following your 50 state journey!
Can't wait for you to explore Almost Heaven WV!
USworldsrs "Sarah and Alex James" make van builds similar to your set-up and they can help you improve your van life experience
I was born in the upper peninsula of Michigan and they have amazing waterfalls all over the state. There is also pictured rocks which is on Lake Superior. There are glass bottom boat tours also. So many amazing things to offer! Or you could always visit Mackinac Island, but make sure you’re here in summer to do all of these things!
When you come to Arkansas, I would recommend the Buffalo River. It I s our first National River in the US. It was dedicated 100 years to the day from our first national park. I would say visit Tyler’s Bend State Park or Steel Creek campground. Steel Creek campground is close to Ponca, Arkansas, and there is a large herd of Elk there. Waterfalls and hiking are all around. The most photographed place in Arkansas is in that area also-Hawksbill Craig, or as some call it, Whitaker Point. The other three things I would look at are (1)The Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, which is haunted, (2) Longbow Cabin, which was built by Ben Person, one of the best shots ever with a bow and arrow. It is built with a waterfall in front of it with a hammock to hang out in. It is built into a cave . (3) Crystal Bridges American Art Museum, one of the finest American Art museums in the World! These are my favorites. I’m sure you will get many more. I am a professional photographer here in Arkansas, and I love my state. We call it the Natural State for great reasons.
Can you please come to 224 home ave in ILLINOIS Dictator.
When you come to Montana, visit Butte. Or Virginia City. Historical wonders in my opinion
Since you're not stopping in my home state of Maine; my recommendation for New Hampshire would be to head to North Conway. Check out Adventure Suites, take a drive or hike up Mount Washington, and make a stop at Zeb's General Store (a must do when in the area). All three of these things are located within a very short drive from one another.
All I Can Say Is" you look cold cold cold" from Sunny Anaheim California 👍
I am also on a quest to visit all 50 states and have visited 23 so far. Good luck and have a blast.
Pennsylvania and the faytte County fair
In Oregon there's a place called Thor's well
Having lived in South Dakota, Iowa and now Minnesota, I have opinions on places in each that would make a great Kara and Nate video. 1. Dogsledding - Grand Marais, MN (winter) 2. Ice fishing - Red Lake, MN (winter) 3. Boundary Waters Canoe - Ely, MN (summer) 4. Rasdak - weeklong 150-person bike ride across SD (June 7-14) 5. Black Hills of SD (Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Black Elk Peak, Custer State Park, Deadwood, Spearfish Canyon) - Colorado without the crowds 6. Kate Shelley bridge and scenic train - Madrid, IA 7. Pella Tulip Festival, Pella, IA (May 6-8) Many others too. Happy to help vet ideas or make connections.
You could fit a lift kit then your tanks could fit 😉
Visit every state capitol
They are complaining about a toilet in their van, if only I had one.. 🥺
