My 2005 Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG was deemed mechanically totaled by its previous owner Hoovies Garage. The twin-turbo V12 M275 engine has a major engine oil leak that requires 50 hours of labor to repair and combined with a leaking hydraulic suspension pump and many other issues the Car Wizard quoted me $10,000 to fix most everything. In this video, I removed the gigantic engine, transmission and entire subframe with suspension and get started. This is going to be a wild ride so make sure to subscribe and hit that bell notification so you catch all the action.

What's the largest engine you've ever had in a car? This is mine for sure.
My Oldsmobile 98 Regency had a 5.0L V8 with a whopping 140hp and blinding 15s 0-60. Now driving a 2014 E550 4Matic sedan with a little ol' 4.7L.
@lcantu0423 Is the stock turbo engine gone or blown up?
@Michael Curley You should follow Lawrence LT Tolman's channel. He swapped an 8.1 into a quarter ton GMC and then added a turbo. Its mild right now, but he plans to build up the engine and is shooting for 1,000 wheel horsepower.
400ci in a Cordoba I briefly owned in the early 1980's. About that same time My dad had a '71 Ford LTD with a 429.
@Jonen Pelit I'm sure it was! People would love to see it if you care to post...cheers
loved seeing the toolbox getting organized
So many junk parts can’t even believe it is like 10,000 parts 💩. Put a Tesla motor way better is like 10 parts only and go faster and reliable for decades and no maintenance no leak Or put better a 2Jz Toyota engine way better
I want this engine in my 64 impala
Moral of the story, never buy a vehicle with a V12 engine.
Hi Alex my name is Luc, I'm from South Florida and a big fan of your work, I love your channel and your videos. I'm actually watching the mercedes series where you drive it and have water in the gas and struggle to get the car home and I also just watched the vidoes where you bullet proof your wife's car and gift a new Lincoln to your friend. Anyway, I was wondering if you had a lesson system set in place for your viewers. Or maybe lessons for your viewers that subscribe to maybe your patreon or something, you know for people who want to learn about what you do. I just bought my first car a 2005 Audi A6 it's a beater but it's mine and I was wondering about things I can do to fix it and make it better/last. If you have any tips (especially seeing and it's hard to find economic fixes for a german car) that'd great. Thanks a million for your awesome content Alex and it'd be a real pleasure to learn from you.
How you put everything back together again? Lol
You are out of your mind!!
Why buy this lup of shit
ANY .. ..V12 engine extraction is not 4 da feint hearted 🤪.... I did a jaguar 12 bout 8 yrs ago ...it waz a fuckin nitemare 🤯... had a lot o sleepless nites. All ended well , I guess ? Tarra 🤞👋👋👋🇬🇧
Mercedes Benz is a expensive pieces of junk
You're amazing, subbed.
Good job I'm an Canadian F-18 mechanic and we can drop an engine on about 2 1/2 hrs x 2 Man job. But IT has been desingned to be fixable fast. A mechanic nightmare IT is cool to watch you work on IT alone. You have a lot of skills and courage. I'm having a blast Watching you.
Boy that front suspension looks alot like whats on the Dodge Charger/Magnum, I mean shape wise and the steering knuckle look similar.
What type of torque wrench and drills are you using?
Great job.lpoks like my old neighbor, Potage Park
This is the grooviest soundtrack man I swear
I did an 2017 amg couple months back. Dealership wanted your soul I did the job (oil pan, couple pulleys and weld frame) for over a grand
Your little helper did a great job! Make sure you take her out for an ice cream cone!
Mercedes-Benz is junk!
i love how entuziastic u are, just feels like one whole good person in this dark world.. and oso music style just fits !
I just bought 2009 CL65 AMG off the auction, and will be pulling the engine out to do the body work. So was thinking to change all the gaskets and seals as well. Very helpful content. Thank you A lot.
Great projet, just make it happen and shut up, your narration is nerve racking!
Talks utter rubbish, quote bring out a shorter extension for more muscle, and hits the bolt head with what looks like a toffee hammer. Those subframe bolts are high tensile bolts! That's why there is only 4 I bet he wishes he could break them. But not with a shorter bar for more muscle? Doh
Bloody rubbish comment. A shorter extension not shorter ratchet handle! A shorter extension on the socket definitely gives you more muscle. Cheerio!
Absolutely ridiculous,,Mercedes should be ashamed, making such a stupid car to work on so so difficult..Its all done with NO thought with after care/service..
The note on the box of old tools reminds me of my git commit statements. Detailed notes to self, so that a year from now I know why I did what I did. lol.
Was the subframe bolt clockwise thread?? Otherwise you turned the wrong way....
Alex, good 2 c u back! I also have a V12 TT and that little 'o' ring problem with the oil cooler under the intake manif. was on 2000-02 mdls. '03 + MB revised it and removed the oil cooler.
I spent £37,000 on my CL65 on parts and labour and that was discounted at Mercedes-Benz of Leicester
10K is ok for all the work in the video, some BMW dealers charge $2000 to changes some plugs, oil, electronics check on a regular simple service of the 7series where they spend 30 minutes on. Quality independent garage down the road does it for $200, I always bring quality parts and best oil myself to them. Car biz is like printing money, most people seem to be glad getting robbed by the brands.
If you are buying old v-12s from anyone but the original owners, you are likely going to bury yourself in maintenance. Preventative maintenance and proper care is paramount in one of these beasts. From the 2nd owner on, these cars are usually neglected. Bought for a cheap price and then run into the ground for lack of...maintenance. Its not the cars fault. It is abuse by the owner that jumped into a car that he/she knows nothing about...nor can afford the same. My $0.02. Having a fantastic indie shop that specializes in MBZ goes a long way.
Thank Hoovie for the new subs. I know you have done collabs with other USworldsrs including JR, but nothing ads subscribers like showing up on Hoovie's channel.
85 jaguar xjs, what a total nightmare
If you are a normal dude this is not a vehicle you want to own out of motorplan!!
what does Alex do for a living?
Hoovie is an idiot next to this guy! Do you have a mb scanner? most jobs on these cars require some sort of plugging of the scanner...
Your daughter is awesome
MECHANICALLY TOTALLED is the best thing to see in an ad for a car like that. Home mechanics dream! 🤩
Diggin the background music that kicks in @7:30 - who's the artist please? Smoooth grooves!
Here's a virtual shoe horn to put it back in.
Anche io non ho magiato qualche avolta a causa della mia stanza... Italian mom way
You need an epoxy floor in there. I can hook you up. Jason
Can you email me at legitstreetcars@gmail.com
24:24 you said you need to leave for work. What do you do besides the channel?
I'm a shop foreman at a fleet garage
I would just hire Johnny “the car ninja”
This car made me clean my garage Translation I had no choice but to be tidy
I do not like the Pewter. It makes it a Grandpa color, I guess that makes it a sleeper! Don't forget to de-badge! Love the content, very excited to hear it after completion. AMG is life.
While out. of. body looks like a truck motor !
I'd like to see you toss that motor and drop an LS in it...
Absolute madness, but very well done !
ONLY one Mistake I noticed Sir. NEVER open and Drain from that Rad Petcock. They are plastic and can be brittle They can break and They DO. Always drain the coolant from the lower Rad Hose NEVER the Petcock.......never touch your petcock.....Lol I said Petcock lol.
Your daughter didn't learn any no-no words this time, her time will come 🤣
Sweet glad I found this I always drooled over these things but rarely ever saw them
Sure helps being a former dealership tech...
Holly crap dude! That's a lot of work.
Scotty Kilmer: "First we remove all this plastic crap"
Brava la mamma👍🇬🇧
Very educational and pleasant to watch. Detailed explanation and step to step guide was good 👌😌
If I were you I’d replace as many ABC hoses as possible while the engine is out. Also, when I did my CL 600 ignition coils and spark plugs (in my garage - no lift, no power tools) I found several vacuum hoses brittle and broke when touched under the ignition coils. Easier with the engine out. Good luck
watching this with interest, I have an S600 with this engine and a buddy of mine has an Sl600 with this engine.
Look forward to doing all that engine disassemby again when you need to change the most niggling sensor that throws codes on your scan tool. 😆
I didn't know you were Italian haha, awesome videos man!
Lit
Ayy
Proof German cars are total trash. Engine out for a cheap gasket. Unbelievable.
Wow amazing job bro you’re a pro! Love your work. 👌🏻👊🏻😎
this is sooooo not worth it is a 5 year girl old manning the lift?
Why didn’t you just use a cherry picker? Lol
This guy has a killer garage. I’d love to have a simple yet super effective garage set up like this
good vid, tks
Gunta is a female name. booyah!
Really want to see that garage makeover. Three words for you: Shop Vac Cozy.
I couldn’t look away. Some people are just born for this type of work. I couldn’t do what he did in this video if my life depending on it. Bravo LSC!
Make sure you use new O rings ! Lol...
Please replace the ABC with Airlift 🙏🏼
man i need you to work on my s63. im out in chicago as well
Who would have thought modifying a $100K car would be fun and worth it! Go Alex!
Bit late to get to the party as usual but absolutely loving this. The only thing I can say is make sure you replace anything that could perish/fail over the next few years. Because like you say being a monster of a job is what puts people off. Keep all receipts down to the O-Rings. Sounds crazy but potential future buyers of a car like this will recognise the upkeep. Loving the work Alex. Keep it up and look forward to the next episode! And great job from your little helper! 😊
Awe man, you have the best assistant in all of USworlds!! That was seriously wholesome, she did great!
Not worth the money.
Wait, what do you do for a living besides USworlds?
are you MAD! letting a little kid do that with you working on it
You are the King, wonderful Video. I could not take my eyes off. Will keep on following.
Really enjoyed this video while eating breakfast. Can't wait for the next episode. Good job!
Jesus, I would not be able to do that in my garage lol...that's also a humungous engine!
I’m really excited about this series! 👍
what do you do for work? I heard you mention that you had to go to work. I thought I heard you say that you own a shop. Is that true?
Hope Gunta Strauss is watching
great vid, are you going to be able to use a valve body from a srt8 again ? lol
How long did it take you to remove the engine?
The idea of heating is to cool it down asap after that... For example you can put some water on the bolt. The heat expands the metal and then the cooling shrinks it... So in this process the rust in between the thread cracks and the bolt starts coming out. What you tried to loosen the bolt while still hot and the metal expanded is non sense.
Impact won't break your bolts nearly as easy as that long ass breaker bar.
Brilliant Silver 👏🏾
This should be a million view video
You're the man!!! Wow!
Alex can you test this against a 2019 Bentley Conti Gt W12 (worth roughly 200k!)? Would be great to see how much beast you can buy for 20k and 200k respectively.
There are only a few dozen people in the whole world I really look up to. Alex is one of them. What a wonderful talent. Can't wait to see how this project goes. Also: now I want to get my own garage and a car lift to be able to ruin my cars myself.
Really great content! Keep up! Love your use of child labor 😁 Done the same with my daughters. Make them petrolheads from start. Greatings from Stockholm, Sweden.
Jordan Peterson would be proud.
Did you ever put it back together? I would love to see that video...
26:27 lmao she's still dripping
