  • I watch this channel because he guves us a wealth of information. I also watch TDF Farming on Instagram. He is an American dairy farmer. He is a wealth of information and LOVES his cows. He explains the whole picture of dairy farming in the US in no uncertain terms. He also addresses various farming issues that come up. Between these two wonderfully informative gentlemen, I am fully informed about They have certainly reduced my stress level for sure.

  • I've come across cows with both claws v thin after iv trimmed v little off, knowing they were lame. Put onto a straw yard, but I wished these had been about years ago. Thin soled cows take up much needed room in a straw yard at times.

  • Dang, I need some of those. I hate, absolutely detest, wearing shoes. But after a while, the bottoms of my feet get to hurting (doctor said I don't have as much "flesh" on the bottom of my feet to cushion the bones ...... he said it comes with gittin' old - er) So, down goes a thicker push rubber backed rug at the kitchen sink. I wonder if Graeme could put straps on a couple of those pads to make thongs for me? Now, that's a thought ......

    cimogmcimogm5 days ago
  • I can do that with my tongue too, though not quite as well as that cow. :D She's so sweet looking, I'm glad she got the foot pads.

  • Hello from Kentucky! I have recently found your channel and find it so relaxing. Actually my whole family will watch it with me at times. It is amazing to see what you do. My grandmother had a 300+ acre dairy farm in Bardstown, Ky and I never saw anyone work on the cows feet. If you and/or your family ever find yourself in Kentucky and need a place to stay our door is always open. Thank you for your kindness and caring of animals

  • Graeme - did you know that there is a channel called Sheep Game who is using your name to promote their channel. They promote you as well, but I think they are feeding off the success of your channel. The format used for their video is the same as yours - even the introductory music. He’s a Scottish fellow.

    Carol LoveCarol Love6 days ago
    • Yes, Graeme is well aware of him, there was one hoof trimming video, which as a joke (that Graeme appreciated), was done in a kind of Hoof GP style. The music isn't owned by Graeme. If you watch some more sheep game videos, you'll see the differences.

  • SUPER CURIOUS⁉️ Serious Question⁉️ You've identified the problem and the solution. The problem is farm wide. WHY did only this cow have All of it's hoofs worn down like this❓❓

    Texas_stone_ StoneTexas_stone_ Stone7 days ago
    • So yes, new concrete can be rough if not smoothed out correctly when being laid. And if this is what happened, throughout the dairy, why was this the ONLY cow that has this issue? Especially since it manifested itself on all of her hooves. Different breed? Older cow? Nutritional deficiency?

      Texas_stone_ StoneTexas_stone_ Stone7 days ago
  • Being "clapped"? Patted or petted is what we say in Canada. A clap is an applause or slang for venereal disease.

As much as the early ones are still very enjoyable you are definitely a lot more relaxed now and less self conscious in talking. Well done in growing this channel and reaching out to those of us who had no idea hoof trimming is so fascinating!

  • haha the kids here run around without shoes all the time jumping playing different games on the concreate and pulling eachother in broken travel bags nothing is more enjoyable then seeing the innocent wild nature of kids who didnt growup with cellphones. anyway kids dont really have a problem walking without shoes due to their weight if you try as an adult however you get wounds :p thats why tiny animals dont have hoofs only heavier animals.

  • Yeah, most people don't realize how abrasive concrete can. They rake the wet concrete to create traction, but traction = abrasive! My work boots wear out in as little as 6 months from walking on concrete all day. (This is not to be confused with polished concrete that is as smooth as a sheet of glass!)

    fredy gumpfredy gump8 days ago
  • If this is such a common problem with new concrete why then don't they smooth the concrete so this doesn't happen? As you say it's a no brainer.

    MJBMJB8 days ago
    • @The Hoof GP Totally different picture in my mind than the brushed concrete finish that is most common. Thank you for the clarity.

      MJBMJB7 days ago
    • When I say "sharp concrete" ... its not really sharp ... its just more abrasive than usual - this cow was in heat and because I'd that she had been running around the barn far more than usual, exerting higher pressures in her feet and there fore greatly increasing the wear. This farm did have some issues with high wear but they've almost disappeared now

The Hoof GPThe Hoof GP7 days ago
    • @alistair clement There has to be a happy medium where the cows feet aren't ground dangerously short. Just take the tips off the concrete. That course concrete isn't good for human feet either.

      MJBMJB8 days ago
    • Because the cows would then have no grip.
